Welcome to Home Safety

Did you know that the safety of your own home is in fact where children are injured the most? Statistics show that almost 60% of children presenting to hospital are injuries having occurred at home. This section provides information and resources to assist in keeping children safe in and around your home.

How Kidsafe is your home?

The key messages of home safety are:
  • Pools and spas fully fenced, with well maintained, self-closing gates.
  • Hot water from bath taps are at a safe 50ºc.
  • Barriers (such as stair safety gates and fire guards) are in place to keep children away from hazards.
  • Child resistant latches fitted to cupboards where dangers such as medicines, cleaners, matches and lighters are stored.
  • Smoke alarms installed with fire brigade advice, and checked regularly.
  • Play areas fenced off from the street and the driveway.

Find out how Kidsafe your home is by downloading and completing our safety audit and visiting the Kidsafe WA Online Safety Demonstration House.

Alternatively, contact us and we will be happy to send you a hardcopy safety audit.
